Christopher T. Hatto is Vice President, Global Business Solutions and Chief Accounting Officer for General Motors. He is responsible for global leadership and oversight for external reporting, technical accounting matters, development of new accounting policies and internal controls. He is also responsible for reporting financial results to the company’s senior leadership and the Board of Directors’ Audit Committee. In addition, he manages a global team charged with optimizing GM business processes to improve service quality and customer experience, while reducing complexity and costs.
Chris serves on the Executive Committee and is a Chair of the SEC Subcommittee for the Financial Executives international Committee on Corporate Reporting. In addition, he is a member of the SEC Regulations Committee for the Center for Audit Quality. Since joining GM in 2007 he has served in various roles including Assistant Controller for Securities and Exchange Commission reporting; various regional Controllership positions; Chief Financial Officer of Customer Care and Aftersales, and Chief Financial Officer of U.S. Sales Operations for Chevrolet, Buick, and GMC.
Before joining GM, Hatto held various roles including, Vice President at Goldman Sachs, as well as Corporate Controller & Chief Accounting Officer at Tower Automotive. Earlier in his career he held financial leadership roles at both Ernst & Young and Arthur Andersen. He graduated from Michigan State University with a Bachelor of Arts in accounting and is a certified public accountant.
