Christian Peo is the Vice Chair, Audit and Assurance for KPMG US. In this role, Christian is responsible for developing and executing the strategic vision for the U.S. Audit practice and leads a team of more than 900 Audit Partners and 8,000 Audit professionals.
Christian previously served as National Managing Partner of Audit Quality and Professional Practice, where he was responsible for the strategic oversight of audit quality control and technical accounting and auditing leadership for both KPMG LLP and KPMG Americas Ltd. He has also led firm efforts in developing KPMG’s audit methodology and related tools and guidance and serves as a key point of interaction with the firm’s regulators.
Earlier in his career, Christian received a two-year appointment as a Professional Accounting Fellow in the Office of the Chief Accountant at the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission. During his fellowship, he worked in the Professional Practice Group and played a key role in the Commission’s oversight of the Public Company Accounting Oversight Board. He also served as a regulatory observer of COSO’s Advisory Council during the development of the 2013 Framework.
Christian has extensive experience serving both public and private multinational companies and has served as a Lead Audit Engagement Partner and SEC Reviewing Partner. His experience includes working with audit committees and boards of directors on acquisitions, divestitures, initial public offerings, spin-off transactions, debt offerings, and SEC registrations and filings. He also has experience with operational, accounting, reporting, and internal control matters, including SEC filings, carve-out financial statements, and internal control over financial reporting.
Christian holds a B.S. in Accounting from Brigham Young University and is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants. He is a licensed CPA in California and New York.
